As Shane helped Mitchie flip over the canoe, he smiled and said, "So, I hope you've been practicing, because we didn't do to well last year." The canoe was a little heavy, but it wasn't to hard to drag towards the water. Although it was dark outside, the moon was giving off just enough light to see the canoe and the water...and most importantly, each other. He glanced up and smiled at her. "Ready?"

Mitchie laughed a little when they got the canoe to the water. That was easier then she thought it would be. Last year that seemed like the hard part. Mitchie chuckled a little when Shane said I hope you've been practicing. She hadn't even seen a canoe since last year. She kind of figured how these worked now. She studied other people using them after they went last year. Plus, Caitlyn explained it to her a bit. Still, she probably wasn't that good. "Yeah," Mitchie responded. "Are you?" She laughed a little again without even knowing it. Using Shane's shoulder for support, Mitchie climbed into the canoe.

Shane nodded after she asked, Are you? He waited for her to climb in before he got in it himself. Grinning at her, he said, "Lets hope we did better than last year!" Actually, Shane hadn't even been in a canoe since they went together last year. And if he remembered correctly, they didn't do so well...
Picking up an ore, he put it in the water and attempted to row the canoe. When the canoe didn't even move, he glanced up at Mitchie, smiled and said, "I don't think I'm doing this right."

Mitchie laughed when Shane spoke. "I don't think so either," she responded. It was so obviously. Just being here with him again made her not care how bad at this they were. Being with Shane was fun no matter what. Mitchie put the paddle into the water and attempted to try as well. With her luck, they bumped into the docks from her rowing the wrong way. Mitchie laughed again. "We're not going anywhere, are we?"

Shane watched as Mitchie rowed the wrong way and they bumped into the dock. He laughed and in response to her question said, "I don't think so... Maybe we should try rowing at the same time." Still smiling, he put his ore back into the water. He glanced back up at Mitchieand said, "On three?"

Mitchie laughed a little and shook her head. This seemed a bit hopeless. This seemed like something she'd watched on America's Funniest Home Videos. Still, at least they put effort into this. No one can say they didn't try even if they trying didn't work so well. Mitchie looked into the water and pushed away from the dock. On three? That wasn't a bad idea. Mitchie laughed a little again. "Oh three it is. One...Two...Three!"

As soon as Mitchie said three, Shane put his ore in the water and rowed as hard as he could. He glanced out onto the water, trying to see if they had moved at all. With both of them rowing, they moved a little bit. He grinned and said, "We moved! It was only a foot, but hey, its better than nothing!"

Mitchie laughed again. "Yeah!" she said with a smile. "Maybe we should try it again?" Then maybe they'd actually get farther away from land this time. At least this was fun. It made it all worth it. They'd have this down by the end of the ride. Mitchie was confident.

Maybe we should try it again? Shane nodded and smiled. "Lets do it." He said, sticking his ore back in the water. He pulled it through the water over and over again, moving a little bit each time. "We're almost to the middle of the lake.." He said with a smile.

Mitichie laughed a little again as she usually did. She rowed and gave it everything she had. "I think it's working this time," she told with a smile. Wow. They were finally going somewhere. Slowly and not very well, but it was still moving. She felt like they'd accomplished something. It was like the joy she got from finishing a new song she worked so hard on.
